Conspicuity

This page will be filled with my thoughts on “being visible” or conspicuous when riding in traffic.

Here is where I’ll talk about lane position and clothing to make you more conspicuous during daylight hours and about lane position, lights and reflective materials to be conspicuous during low or no light situations.

Here is a short clip from my post office run on June 1, 2012 that shows the risk you face when a driver is facing into the sun while trying to make a turn as you approach.

You’d think being visible in daylight is easy…not so…because much of being visible is not just being seen but more about being recognized as something that a motorist needs to pay attention to. Something more than just a brightly colored object in the road.
